Strategies around rain pants and gloves for cycling

I like Shower’s Pass rain pants — they breathe decently, have pockets and are well tailored so they aren’t overly baggy.

I wear several brands of gloves — my primary goal is they keep my hands dry so they don’t get cold. Secondly, I look for gloves that are wind proof. I usually move from fingerless leather gloves in summer to hard shell, unlined Columbia Sportswear gloves when the rains start. As the weather grows colder, I add silk liners to those Columbia gloves. When it gets close to freezing I go for a waterproof hard shell ski glove by Montbell with a wool glove liner. They’re still slim enough I can feel the brakes, but insulated enough that my fingers don’t freeze. I have tiny hands, so mittens and super padded gloves in my size are usually too bulky to allow me to feel brakes and shifters.

Happy riding!

Impatient optimist. Photo taker. Everything is usually fun(ny) if you look at it twice.
